The Law of the Garbage Truck

This is a forward I received from one of my friends, Roshan. I liked it very much & thought should share it everyone, hence this blog.

One day, I hopped into a taxi and took off for the airport . We were driving in the right lane when suddenly, a black car, jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed the brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. I mean, was really friendly. So I asked, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!" This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck'

He explained, "Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. NEVER take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on with the routine life." Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...... 'Love the people who treat you right.. Pray for the ones who don't.'

Women's Day Celebration

On March 6, 2009 in my company we celebrated Women’s Day in advance. Actually the celebration planned in our head office included inter-entity dance competition and a lecture on Women empowerment.
But all the women in my office wanted to spend the day more meaningfully. So we decided to make a difference in lives of small kids of all the laborers who are working on the construction site in our office premises.
The idea was quickly accepted by our Director and supported us by donating note books & stationary for school going kids and painting books & crayons for non school going kids.
All the women contributed for the biscuits & chocolates for those kids.

We all gathered together and we handed over the sweets & gifts to all the kids. The kids were very delighted. They expressed their gratitude by thanking us in “ENGLISH”. These kids usually speak Marathi / Kanadi / Hindi. So for them speaking in English is like they have entered into Elite Class. That shows how much overwhelmed were they with gratitude.

Carom

"Queen लेवानू .....Juice पिवानू ...... मज्जानी life...." ही मजा अनुभवण्याचा सध्या मला chance मिळतोय . माझ्या लहानपणी मी फार थोडा carom खेळलीये.... आमचा खेळ म्हणजे पत्ते नाहीतर भातुकली.......आणि भातुकलीच्या वयापुढे गेल्यावर T.V. नाहीतर पुस्तकं.... एवढंच....... Carom कधी खेळलाच नाही .

माझं लग्न झाल्यानंतर पहील्यांदा मला preofessionally carom कसा खेळला जातो, याची ओळख झाली . आमाच्याकडे सगळेच म्हणजे माझे सासरे, सासुबाई आणि आमोद उत्तम Carom खेळतात अर्थात मी सोडून ........

सध्या आम्ही रोज रात्री Carom खेळतोय . मी आत्तापर्यंत एकही board जिंकले नाहीये पण माझ्या खेळात improvement नक्की झालीये . माझं Carom खेळणं म्हणजे, Coin, Striker and Pocket एका रांगेत असेल तीच coin strike करणे ....... अशी एखादी coin board वर असेल तरंच मला coin घेता येते, ते ही फार कमी वेळा आणि यामुळे मी आणि आमोद कधीच board जिंकू शकालो नाहीयोत आजपर्यंत तरी.......

बाबांनी मला Carom खेळण्यातली महत्वाची trick सांगितली, की coin ला कुठे hit केलं की ती pocket मध्ये जाईल हे बघून coin च्या त्या point ला hit करायचा प्रयत्न कर मग striker कुठेही ठेवला तरी काही problem नाही ...... मी तसं करायचा प्रयत्न आता करतीये आणि surprisingly मला ज्या coin घ्यायला अवघड वाटायचे त्या मला ५०% वेळा तरी घ्यायला जमत आहे .

आणि मला finally Queen आणि Cover घायला जमलं ....... खूप आनंद झाला

या ७ - ८ दिवसात एवढं लक्षात आलं की Carom खेळायला खूप concentration लागतं........ prediction लागतं , की कुठे hit केलं की coin कुठे जाईल....... त्याच बरोबर striker चा speed control करणं शिकावं लागतं नाहीतर मोक्याच्या क्षणी double due ठरलेला........

हा Carom रोजच्या आयुष्यात मला stress release करण्याचा नवीन मर्गाचं दाखावतोय.....

त्यामुळे आता फक्त ध्येय, Game जिंकण्याचं.........मज्जानी Life.....
